Kayo’s Ramen Bar

Kayo’s Ramen Bar is a must-visit destination for any food enthusiast in Portland. The menu is diverse, with soy-free, vegan, and vegetarian options available, catering to a wide range of dietary preferences.

One of my favorite restaurants in Portland. I love the vegan options, such an amazing comfort food. I always recommend kayos and will continue coming back!

I like this place cause you can try some flavors you typically can't find at a lot of other ramen joints. When I think ramen I usually think tonkatsu as it seems to be the most well-known & popular in the states but Kayo doesn't have it. Instead of the rich creamy pork broths you might be expecting, they use lighter, cleaner tasting chicken bone broths (vegan broth available as well). Also, their noodles are excellent and have that slight springy bounce. I've tried the Tan Tan and Mala Ramen. The Tan Tan had a peanuty flavor which was interesting but not savory enough for me. The Mala I liked a lot, it had a bit of Szechuan peppercorn spice to it. Toppings are simple & minimal: just a bit of green onion and fresh spinach. The tacos were pretty standard, essentially chashu scraps w/ a bit of spicy mayo but at $4 for street taco size not worth it. The ramen prices were standard and service is fast. Clean cafe setting w/ good amount of covered outdoor tables too w/ heaters for winter.

Had a great dinner here. The pork was really really good along side a great broth. Green tea wasn't my favorite but I do have a sweet tooth .
